AALHE 2020 Online Conference FAQ

When will AALHE 2020 Online be held?
AALHE 2020 Online will take place June 8th - June 19th, 2020. In order to accommodate the time zones of attendees and speakers from around the US and the world, this extended conference schedule will involve over individual sessions, networking opportunities, and special events, including the popular Conversations with Accreditors, exhibitor Resource Fair, and the new Grand Challenges in Assessment panel. Ample breaks between sessions will be made available, and attendees will have the option to engage with material on their own time within AALHE's Event Community during and after the live concurrent sessions.

How will the content of AALHE 2020 Online be delivered?
AALHE 2020 Online will involve live webinar-style sessions, live discussions, asynchronous sessions, and hybrid presentations. Those session types that rely on group engagement and discussion will be live-online. We are encouraging presenters of all session types the opportunity to provide asynchronous material in a flipped-classroom model. Attendees will be emailed with information about joining the conference website 1 week before the conference start date at https://aalhe.connectedcommunity.org/home

I am a presenter for AALHE 2020 Online. What do I need to do to change my presentation format?
We are invested in working with our speakers to provide them and our attendees with the most seamless, comfortable online session delivery possible. Please see the Presenter FAQ for more information on conference delivery format.

What's included with my AALHE 2020 registration?
All participants registered for the AALHE 2020 conference will have access to opening keynotes, virtual reception and happy hour events, breakout sessions, and special events at AALHE 2020 online. These special events include the popular Conversations with Accreditors, the resource fair, and the new Grand Challenges in Assessment panel in an online format. Please note that workshops must be registered for separately.

Is the AALHE 2020 Conference for members only?

Who attends the AALHE conference?
AALHE members and non-members from around the US and the world have attended AALHE conferences in the past, including assessment professionals and administrators from colleges and universities invested in strengthening assessment as a tool for learning in higher education. We expect this audience to expand for AALHE 2020 Online with new opportunities to network with assessment practitioners around the world.

How will AALHE 2020 Online sessions be delivered?
The live engagement components of AALHE 2020 Online will be delivered via Zoom. On Demand sessions can be viewed any time throughout the conference at the conference website - https://aalhe.connectedcommunity.org. Presenters and attendees must be registered for AALHE 2020 Online to obtain a user login for the conference website. Through your profile, you can connect with attendees and speakers, communicate with connections, and view the live conference schedule.

What's the difference between the Workshops and the AALHE 2020 Concurrent Sessions?

AALHE offers several workshop sessions that allow participants to work closely with higher education professionals with advanced assessment knowledge. These workshops are designed to provide specific, targeted instruction and skills building that participants can use in the field to inform their own assessment practices. This year, 2 6 hour and 5 3 hour workshops are being offered.

I paid for AALHE 2020 in person registration. What happens now that the conference is moving online?
Registered participants who have already paid for AALHE 2020 will soon be given the option to select from the following adjustments:
  • To apply a credit towards AALHE Online 2020 and refund any remainder
  • Apply registration towards AALHE 2021 in Portland, Oregon
  • Request a full refund.

What if I register for the AALHE 2020 Online conference but I can no longer attend?
We understand that schedule conflicts arise. Because the AALHE 202 Online conference functions at-cost, registrations for AALHE 2020 Online can only be transferred to another participant or donated. Please reach out to [email protected] for more information on donating options.
