We have updated our Mission Statement and Strategic Plan to better reflect our goals of supporting new and professional assessment practitioners, and our desire to advance the field of assessment by furthering research and preserving knowledge.

AALHE is a professional association for assessment practitioners at colleges, universities, and higher education support organizations. It provides resources and a forum to support assessment practitioners’ professional development and the research, documentation, open discussion of issues, strategies, policies, and processes associated with the use of assessment to improve student learning and institutional effectiveness in fostering student success.
Our association supports the generation of theory and information about effective assessment.
Secure fiscal, human, technological, and facilities resources to assure the viability of the organization.
Provide professional development for advanced assessment practitioners.
Develop new and next-generation assessment practitioners.
Lead and advocate for good and ethical assessment practices to external stakeholders.
Partner and collaborate with other entities to further the AALHE mission
Contribute to the research and literature on assessing student learning in higher education
