Description: Too often, assessment of student learning and other evaluative measures are added only after major decisions are made. This session explores how assessment professionals can connect more directly and earlier with governance, strategy, and campus initiatives—advocating for student learning assessment while also highlighting broader evaluative contributions. Come ready to share what’s worked (or not) on your campus. This ALE invites members to explore questions such as:

• When big decisions are being made on your campus (about programs, budgets, technology, etc.), where do you see assessment showing up—or not showing up—in those conversations?
• What strategies have helped you (or could help you) get assessment represented in governance or strategic planning conversations?
• What challenges have you faced in trying to influence institutional decisions and how have you navigated them?
